Fart and Turd were forbidden by my jw stepmother...That was just, well.....death...
I am not even joking....
We were allowed however (and she did all the time) to use the "N" word...and all its relatives....loving people those rural jw's...

it is pegan in origin.
(but i worship magazines made from trees).
it is begging (but i knock on doors with a dumb spiel nobody wants to hear, in hopes of soliciting a few coins).

It gives glory to the devil (but yard sale items have demons attatched to them, and every good witness knows that fear=respect)
Halloween is a seasonal holiday, and seasons should not be celebrated...OK...Define "celebrate" ....Isn't that what jw's do when they canvas on holidays, Memorial Day in the cemetary, leaflets placed just near Easter for passover...Isn't that "paying attention to special days"?
C'mon now...doubters, take your kids out for a fun night this year, just for giggles...

as many on this board are aware- the wt society is losing younger members in big numbers.
statistics show that 2 out of 3 jw's raised in the cult leave between the age of 18 to 35. so like they always do- if the wt society sees a " need " or " problem " arising they address it in wt study articles.
thus notice how manipulative the wt society uses fear, guilt, and put down type comments to intimidate young jehovah's witnesses in this wt study article in nov. 15th issue.. under the titled article " young ones - what will you do with your life ?
Oh Crud,
And thanks for posting Flipper, and interesting post indeed.

Think about it...All businesses use advertising to the young and impressionable. And youth is by nature impressionable...Look at the value of ten years of a Young life using brand loyalty. Yes, I said Brand loyalty...See the value? See what the tower is doing, and why? It is the "truth" and you can't get anywhere but "here".
Want to tear down the tower? Teach our young peeps about the dangers of consumerism and propoganda.

so last night my wife brought the situation up again and kept telling me how sorry i'm going to be for what i'm doing to our family.
i kept a mild attitude and tried to reason with her.. she refused!.
i went about it in the way that sweet baby cheezits recommended.
(((BRODAN)))
Just remember, she is trained and believes that only a "weak christian"tm, would listen to an apostate.
And this also, responses such as "whatever", and "I'm so over this" are generic slang for "I don't know how I feel about what you just said yet".
I detect a bit of YOU matter in this as well. I am glad to hear it. Right on dude.

anyone remember that?
i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images, like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway, that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful, bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple, made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.
Oh Yes...the great pumpkin, LOL
Makes halloween look like cookies and milk.
Good thing they got the point across that children should not beg (forgiveness),
Sexism (what would we do without paternilistic justice)
Homosexuality (does the pic do justice")?
Forgiveness (maybe hober will drop a big brick on our head, just to make it quick
Love (find one example of love in the whole dang book, I will apologize in public in my underwear)

hi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.
Read it, heard it, caught it, called it for what it was...although as a minor I was still forced to attend meetings contrary to my beliefs. I even begged my father (a non practicing baptist) to not make me go, as I sided with jesus as my mediator....to no avail...
Thanks for the post dear, I sure do remember it....

i want to put "pen to paper" so to speak, comparing what i left behind as a young jw man 40 years ago, with what ive been reading on this site.. i cant include everything in 1 post, so please put up with me while i compile my recollections.. this is not a hate-filled diatribe, but hopefully a worthwhile comparison.
i grew up as a jw, being baptised at 14, left school at 15, started pioneering at 17.. the congregation i spent 5 years in, 1966-71, brings back many fond memories, the most important being the love we all shared for each other.. the emphasis was on helping one another; circuit servant visits were eagerly looked forward to, assemblies a treat.. very occasionally, someone might slip up & sin.
usually it involved sex, most times the person was put on probation ( ever heard that word?).
Scarred,
Things have changed. For starts, each congo had autonomy more so than now...so things "fit" better then...We used to have get togethers and music and fellowship outside the hall.
Over the years, this has not only been abandoned but downright forbidden....this was the only link I had to extended family who were not "in" and you better believe that is why it was ended...
Just one example...
